JANE HALL  ------------------- Raleigh, North Carolina

Jane Hall has lectured and taught quiltmaking for guilds and quilt conferences in the United States and abroad for twenty-five years. She is an author and quilt designer as well as a certified teacher, judge, and appraiser for antique and contemporary quilts.

Her award-winning quilts have been exhibited nationally and internationally in quilt shows, juried fiber and multi-media exhibitions, and galleries. Her quilts are included in public and private collections and in the American Quilter's Society Museum in Paducah, KY.

She has a particular interest in foundation work, and has explored methods for using foundation techniques in all kinds of piecing, traditional, innovative, as well as designs not usually considered for foundation piecing. She has co-authored five books on foundation piecing with Dixie Haywood (Perfect Pineapples, Precision Pieced Quilts Using the Foundation Method, Firm Foundations, Hall and Haywood’s Foundation Quilts, and Foundation Borders.) Her new book, "The Experts’ Guide to Foundation Piecing” was published with C&T in October 2006.

Have you made a loved Log Cabin designs and wanted to expand your horizons? The Pineapple is a Log Cabin gone way farther. It is an interesting block by itself, but colored imaginatively, or with the center moved or strip sizes changed, it can be a real stand-out design. The class is an overview of this graphic pattern, from classic to innovative designs. Learn the basic technique on a small project and then sample several different variations. Ultimately, choose one and begin your own original Pineapple quilt.

Machine.  All levels.  $5 materials fee, payable in class.
