ESTERITA AUSTIN ---- Port Jefferson Station, NY
Esterita is an Internationally award winning quilt maker and designer. She has a MFA in graphics and photography from Pratt Institute, a MS in art education and studied renaissance art in Italy. Her work has been exhibited in the American Museum of Folk Art in New York City. Esterita’s quilt “The Well” was a prize winning piece in the museums international competition “Quilted Constructions; The Spirit of Design”. She teaches her unique style of textural and dimensional imagery worldwide and brings creative energy to her workshops, stimulating the imagination and invigorating the soul.

REALISM TO ABSTRACTION In this class (using your own photograph, or one of mine), students will design either an abstract or realistic image. Students will translate your design into a pattern and develop it into a quilt top. Choose structures (buildings, ruins), a still life, a landscape or anything else from which you would like to work. Students will learn fusing techniques and how to paint on the quilt surface with textile paints to completely enhance the depth, add detail and accentuate your image.
No Machine required. Intermediate – Advanced. $15 material fee, payable in class.
